I’m Liam Sloan, and I set up Stone 56 to help firms reposition and strengthen their go-to-market strategy when they face change or disruption.
My career started in journalism, before moving into strategy, commercial and business development roles.
I’ve worked in government outsourcing, edtech, healthcare and management consultancy businesses, holding senior leadership positions in start-ups, scale-ups and established global businesses.
From 2022-2026 I was the Commercial Director of Public Digital, a digital transformation consultancy. At Stone 56, I work alongside a select group of senior, experienced, and trusted affiliates who bring distinct and complementary skillsets.
Why are we called Stone 56?
I’m a Wessex boy at heart. Stone 56 is the largest remaining sarsen stone at Stonehenge. Standing 6.5 metres tall and weighing 23 tons, it was hauled almost 20 miles from Marlborough Down, where similar stones naturally dot the landscape.
Stonehenge’s builders then shaped Stone 56 to form one vertical of the stone window frame through which they observed the setting sun at the winter solstice.
We no longer know what ‘strategy’ or belief Stonehenge’s builders pursued. But we do know that in an age long before writing, they found a way to communicate it with astonishing power.
